there's this white and orange stray cat that the narrator named Cat.  she's not too loud, but not too quiet as well.  she doesn't crave for attention - in fact, she doesn't want it.   but when you're alone, the cat knows it and sits quietly with you like she can feel your pain. 

you can leave her for a long time but she won't complain.  by nature, cats are very independent.  she likes being cuddled.  she likes tuna.  she likes everything warm and fuzzy.  and she sleeps all day.

Cat owns no one no one owns her as well.  she is for anyone who needs her.

being a stray cat, she wanders around all the time, encountering different kinds of people.  at times, cruel people hurt her, throwing boiling water on her.  it hurts the cat for a very long time, but it doesn't stop her.  she's a stray cat, she's a fighter.

she is just a typical cat who lives in a city where everyone is out on his own.  but the cat knows everyone needed someone sometimes.  so she's just there -- out there -- letting people use her for comfort (or torture).

no matter how many times she gets kicked or thrown at, she never loses her faith in people.  she knows there is good side in everyone.

the world sometimes can be so mean to the cat but she won't stop wandering until some good samaritan's going to pick her up, take good care of her and give her home.

Unang Araw (First Day)

Reality has finally sunk in.  I will no longer see Monique when I open the office door.  I won't get to hear "Hi, Ms. Pachingo!" anymore.

This is the first day Monique is no loner volunteering for TSL.

I was also a new employee when she arrived at Tahanan.  Days, weeks, months have passed and I have gotten so used to asking her stuff about anything and everything.  We have bonded so well - she even called me her Filipina sister =)

We laughed a lot - shared a lot - and worked together for TSL a lot (wink wink)  ;)

I cannot believe time flies so fast - she has to go and start a new adventure on the other side of Asia. But we are all happy for her and her new job.  

We are forever grateful for everything she has done to us, to the girls of Tahana Sta. Luisa, and to the organization itself.
